The NMDAF and the NMDA are committed to inspiring future dentists by providing leadership, mentoring and networking opportunities, and events to pre-dental students, dental students, residence dentists and new dentists.

 

Throughout the year this program gives opportunities for training, mentorships, and coordination of clinic observations. Once a year a celebration of dentistry dinner is thrown where students and mentors can come together to celebrate the year and be inspired.

$1,000 Future New Mexico Dentist Scholarship

Opens February 1st, 2025 - Closes April 1st, 2025

 

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Acceptance to a U.S. dental school is required.
  • Applicants must have strong ties to New Mexico and a genuine interest in practicing dentistry within the state. (Preference will be given to New Mexico Pre-Dent students.)

Scholarship recipient(s) requirements

  • Attend New Mexico Dental Association Annual session in June to receive scholarship.
  • Attend or provide a video for Emerging Leaders Dinner in November.
About the Scholarship

Each year, up to two New Mexico college students pursuing a career in Dentistry are awarded the Future New Mexico Dentist Scholarship by the New Mexico Dental Association Foundation.

Application Process

Complete part I and part II of the official scholarship application form.

Part I

Complete the application form which includes a personal statement (max 750 words) detailing why you are choosing a career in dentistry and your future goals. 

Part II

Provide the following attachments via e-mail to nmmom2@nmdaf.org

  • Unofficial transcript
  • Resume – highlighting academic achievements, volunteerism, and community service
  • Letter of acceptance to a U.S dental school
  • Letter of recommendation from a dental mentor
  • Preference may be given to applicants with a demonstrated commitment to community service and who participated in a New Mexico Pre-Dental Society.

Notification

Scholarship recipient(s) will be notified by May 15th. Non-recipients will also receive notification.

Submission deadline

Application opens on February 1st.  All application materials must be submitted by April 1st (Late submissions will not be considered.)
